why i am religious but also unfaithful
lennon cox
i am religious when it comes to the rain. the simple return of heavy water from the clouds to the trees. it's simple and complicated and that's why i believe in it. i can explain it. i can think about it. i can also think about how, although manmade, god is everywhere. and although god isn't real, i can still see its presence in everything. and i think that is why i am unfaithful to god - i believe in the creation but not the creator. after all, i can smell the flowers god grew, but i cannot kiss the hand that planted them.
so, to me, god is just a way of us trying to know. it's old-fashioned fear wrapped in a cloth of faith.
maybe mankind is god. we have made god so human after all. but the thunder in the clouds may also be god. who knows? there is no way to prove anything or disprove anything. not much time to label the unidentifiable, not much time to find faith in what cannot be seen. so i think i'll just live. because life is god. and so is the thunder.
thank you if you made it this far
